By Amy Wiza, Special to the City-Times
Learn more about international volunteering, current project activities and Wisconsin’s nearly 50 year Partnership with Nicaragua at the W/NP Warehouse, 2139 N. 2nd Drive, Saturday, June 21st.
The quarterly gathering of members and volunteers is being combined with a cook-out and packing day to prepare for next shipment of donations that are gathered in Wisconsin and sent to Nicaragua. W/NP is a very productive humanitarian organization representing Wisconsin in Nicaragua and making friends for the USA. Helping improve the quality of their life for all involved, both here in WI and in Nicaragua, has made a huge difference for thousands of citizens and communities.
The organizational mission is to strengthen the human capacity of people in both geographic locations (WI and Nic) by bringing citizens together for the good of others. Wisconsin volunteers identify existing local resources on which to build, promote, and publicize the framework for humanitarian assistance and further economic development. Many items sent from Wisconsin to Nicaragua, including sewing machines, sports equipment, school supplies, medical equipment, McDonald’s booths, airport beacons and of course emergency vehicles can significantly improve the quality of life for all who are involved with the process of utilizing and placing resources where there are needed most, from start to finish.
