Ben Franklin Junior High has been recognized as a School of Merit by the State of Wisconsin for implementing the RtI for Reading program.
The Wisconsin Response to Intervention for Reading (RtI) is an initiative produced by a joint effort between the Dept. of Public Instruction (DPI) and the Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) Statewide Network and the DPI. It creates a system of practices designed to increase student success by focusing on a student’s specific behavior relative to reading for school as well as increasing family involvement.
“Congratulations to Dr. Negaard (Connie Negaard, Ben Franklin principal) and her entire staff and faculty- thank you so much, it’s an amazing thing,” said Stevens Point School Board President Angel Faxon. “We’re really proud of you.”
Ben Franklin was one of 17 schools in the state recognized for implementing the program. The school applied for the recognition earlier this year.
