Bernice A. Okray, age 91 formerly of Stevens Point, died Monday June 30, 2014, at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Bernice was born on January 19, 1923, in Junction City. She was the daughter of the late Walter & Rose (Glowa) Mandziara.

She attended local schools in Pittsville and graduated from Pittsville High School. Her marriage to George Okray took place on July 2, 1949, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Her husband George died on March 3, 2001.

Bernice worked for Borden Company in Junction City and for the Copps Corporation where she retired in 1984.

She was a member of the St. Peter Rosary Society.

She enjoyed bowling, football and baseball, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Grace Sankey of Wisconsin Rapids.  Two grandsons; Derek (Jill) Swanson of Hewitt and Logan (Elizabeth Fawley) Sankey of Wisconsin Rapids;  6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Pearl.

A Mass of Christin Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday July 3, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pisarski Funeral Homes Stevens Point & Plover are assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials in Bernice’s name will be established at a later date.
