Food Swings: Grilled Green Beans

We grill just about everything you can imagine during the July 4th holiday- and the food is so good, sometimes for several days after. This year we decided to try grilling fresh green beans from our garden- and it was fantastic.
The following recipe works only for fresh green beans, so if you don’t have access to a garden, you’ll have to visit the Downtown Farmer’s Market, the Stevens Point Co-Op or the Central Rivers Farmshed. Beans should be firm and crisp before you grill, or they’ll become limp.
This marinade also works for grilled broccoli and asparagus.
You will need:
Fresh green beans, washed and patted dry
2 T olive oil
2 T lemon juice
1/2 t of each: garlic powder, salt and pepper
Parmesan cheese, to taste.
Directions:
Add ingredients to a one- quarter Ziploc baggie, marinate for about 10 minutes. Grill 2-3 minutes per side. Sprinkle with cheese and enjoy.
