The City Plan Commission on Monday will consider requests for expansion from two east-side businesses.

One request involves a 1,500 square-foot building addition to the US Cellular/UltraCom Wireless building, located at 5301 Highway 10 East.

The cellular business, which is situated within a B-5 highway commercial district, would also add 13 new parking stalls over 1,650 square feet of additional paved parking space as a part of the construction.

In a memo to the Commission, Community Development Director Michael Ostrowski said the business will also be required to add six bicycle stalls and additional trees and other landscaping.

Commissioners will also consider allowing a local car dealership to add an extra 100 spaces to its Highway 10 East parking lot.

The Stevens Point Chrysler dealership, located 5441 Highway 10 East, currently has parking for 150 within its 132,000 square- foot lot. The property is also zoned highway commercial, leaving little room for expansion in an already- crowded business corridor, which also operates in a wellhead protection district.

Three additional light poles and a storm water basin will also be added to the lot.

According to city documents, officials from the community development department would recommend additional trees and other landscaping due to the increase in parking, as well as add six bicycle stalls near the building.

The Commission will also hear a homeowner’s request to construct a detached garage on his Main Street property, which is located within an established neighorhood,  as well as a setback exemption for a downtown parking lot on Centerpoint Drive.

The City Plan Commission meets at 5:30 PM on Monday, July 7 at the Lincoln Center, 1519 Water Street. The public is welcome.
