Dairymen: The Moo-sical is gearing up for encore performances during the upcoming Farm Technology Days.
The cast of 20 features experienced local talent from the Stevens Point Area, a variety of music genres, and guaranteed laughs.
The musical comedy debuted in May at SPASH, and will also be held August 10-14 at Sentry’s @1800 Theater, 1800 North Point Drive in Stevens Point.
Agriculture meets theater in this heartwarming, funny and poignant story of two dairy-farming families negotiating life’s ups and downs. The lead character, a 92 year-old dairyman is played by Mike Peplinski, a real-life retired dairyman. Peplinski seasons the story with memories, wit and wisdom that spans nearly a century and give us a glimpse into the past.
“You don’t have to know anything about farming to love this show, although agricultural people will find it especially appealing,” said Brenda Strack, a local author and sister of score composer Melanie Wiltse.
Wiltse penned songs including “Ya’ Gotta Love Cows”, “Topside of the Turf”, “Big Shotz Blues”, “Field of Stars”, “Dairymen’s Quar-teat” and others.
The cast of the show will present a preview in the Farm Tech Days Family Tent on Wednesday, August 13th at 1 PM and again on Thursday, August 14th at 10:30 AM.
A portion of ticket sales will go to the Stevens Point Chapter of the FFA.
Regular performances of Dairymen: The Moo-sical are held nightly at 7:30 PM, August 10-14 @1800 Theater. Tickets are $15.
