Mark James Engebretson, 60

Mark James Engebretson, 60 of Amherst, died peacefully at home July 13th after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Per his request there will be no public service. However there will be a celebration of life gathering at a later date.

On March 1 1954, In Rockford Illinois the world was given the gift of a man that loved life, laughter and sports.

He was the son of Lolita E. (Langton) and Ole M. Engebretson Jr. and attended SPASH high school after moving to Stevens Point at a young age.

From 1991 to 1993 he attended Midstate Technical college and studied Computer Electronics and Mechanical Design.

After SPASH he worked mostly as a delivery driver starting with Midstate Distributing and most lately Werner Electric.

In 1979 He married Cathy Zissis. They spent several years in Arizona in the late 1980’s and then returned to Stevens Point where they later divorced.

Mark loved the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, he played softball for many years in the Stevens Point, Plover, Junction City leagues and in the 80’s, played proudly in the annual St Pete’s Tournament. He also loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and sitting around a campfire with friends and family, filling the night with laughter.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Grant (Gladys) Langton, Ole (Lottie) Engebretson Sr. and his father.

Mark is survived by his mother, Lolita Engebretson, (Stevens Point) daughter Aimee Engebretson,(Rhinelander) son Rory Engebretson (Amherst) grandson Braydon Engebretson (Rhinelander) brothers Rick (Barb) Engebretson (Amherst) and Jim (Michelle) Engebretson (Amherst) and 3 sisters, Florence (Sena Anderson) Koch (Waupun WI), Karen (Jim) Cotton (Chanute, Kansas) and Tonya Fuller (Phoenix, New York), Uncle Lynn (Ellen) Langton (Wisconsin Rapids) Nephew Eric Engebretson (Kenosha, WI) and niece Candi (Thommis) Keller (Chanute, Kansas) and many cousins and friends.
