Letter: Vote for Lukas is Vote for Community
To the Editor-
On Aug. 12 I will be voting for Mike Lukas for Portage County Sheriff, and I hope you will, too. Mike is a resident and taxpayer of Portage County and has been for 20 years. He has served in our law enforcement for 20 years as well. For 12 of those years, he has been a sergeant.
Mike is very involved in all of our communities, but we are especially proud to have him and his family in our school district. You will find him either coaching a game or helping, but most times he’s there supporting all the students. You can often find him volunteering at the Special Olympics and ringing the bells for the Salvation Army. He takes pride in his teaching hunter safety classes as well as boating, ATV and snowmobile safety classes.
Most recently, I saw a photo of Mike and other volunteers participating in the Wounded Warrior hunt. What an amazing thing to do for our servicemen.
Mike is a family man and loves being involved with people of all ages. What I think is important is to have a sheriff in our county who is genuine, knows how to budget, is ambitious, has a good work ethic, is a good listener and is someone you feel comfortable enough with to be able to go to him with any problems or concerns. I believe Mike Lukas is that person.
Please join me in voting for Mike Lukas for Portage County Sheriff on Aug. 12.
