The Stevens Point City Band will highlight summer and feel-good music during it’s second-to-last concert of the season this Wednesday.
The concert begins at 7 PM at the Pfiffner Pioneer Park band shell. The week’s concert theme is “tasty tunes” and includes the following numbers:
“Disney at the Movies” (arr. John Higgins); “Calypso Holiday” (arr. Don Schaeffer); “The Hive” (Erik Morales); “Joe Raposo’s Sesame Street Songbook” (arr. Paul Cook); “Cranberry Corners, USA” (John Klein); “Caribbean Rondo” (Pierre LaPlante); “Pie in the Face Polka” (Henry Mancini, arr. Johnnie Vinson); “People Who Live in Glass Houses” (John Philip Sousa); and “Big Band Signatures” (arr. John Higgins).
The children’s march music will be “Marche From the Opera ‘Love For Three Oranges’” (Serge Prokofiev, arr. Frank Erickson)
As always, Michele’s Restaurant and Catering of Stevens Point will be offering food for sale before and during the concert.
Concerts are free and held Wednesday evenings through July 30. Audience members should bring chairs or blankets for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the gymnasium at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 1919 Wyatt Avenue.
