Man Charged With 9th OWI

A 57 year-old man from Stevens Point is facing charges for his 9th OWI following a car accident in early July.
Alan Stricker was arrested after a car crash at Stanley Street and Wilshire Boulevard on July 7, when around 11:19 PM he allegedly crashed into another vehicle driven by a woman who told police she was 28 weeks pregnant. No injuries were reported.
According to police documents Stricker initially claimed another man had been driving the vehicle, saying the driver fled the scene on foot. He later admitted to taking pain and sleeping medication prior to driving.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court last week ruled that chronic drunk drivers must be sentenced to at least three years in prison. Stricker’s previous conviction for OWI took place in 2008.
He also faces charges of operating while revoked and obstructing an officer.
