Former Marshfield Chief Supports Sorenson
To the Editor-
I was recently contacted by Portage County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin R. Sorenson and informed he has decided to run for sheriff of that jurisdiction. I was very pleased Kevin had come to that decision, as I view him as a highly confident and capable individual who I would have the pleasure of working with through many of our joint efforts.
I have known Kevin for over 20 years. The services he has provided to the Marshfield Police Department as well as both the Clark County and Portage County Sheriff’s Departments have been exemplary.
The Marshfield Police Department has worked with the Portage County Sheriff’s Department to provide a means of sharing resources. Those combined efforts include: general mutual aid requests, K9 enforcement and training exercises, crisis and hostage negotiations, tactical team responses and training and drug investigations through our joint multijurisdictional enforcement group. There is no question that Sorenson would continue the tradition of a close and cooperative working relationship between our departments.
In closing, please allow me to state that it is a pleasure to write a letter of support on behalf of Deputy Kevin Sorenson. I hope that in some small way, I may have provided even the slightest amount of influence for his selection to this position.
