Attend Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Portage County, August 12-14, 2014 to learn more about Wisconsin’s abundant agricultural industry.

Covering more than 400 acres- with 60 acres reserved for tent city- Farm Technology Days is headed to the area August 12-14.

The family friendly event celebrates Wisconsin agriculture, with over 600 commercial exhibitors as well as forage and vegetable harvesting and related equipment, plus family and youth programs, heritage tractors, farm tours and more.

The event is open to the public from 9 AM- 5 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, and on Thursday from 9 AM- 4 PM. Admission is $6 per person and children 12 and under are free. Parking is also free.

Smoking and pets are not allowed on the grounds.

• Never attended Farm Technology Days before? This event is not just for farmers, offering a wide variety of entertainment, educational exhibits for the whole community. New this year to the show, watch vegetable harvesting including, potatoes, sweet corn, snap beans, carrots, and cabbage. This featured event highlights the Central Sands region of Wisconsin found in Portage County, which is an ideal landscape for high value vegetable production. Portage County ranks first in the state of Wisconsin for production of potatoes, sweet corn, and processed snap beans and ranks second in green peas and carrot production.
• Looking for fun family friendly entertainment? Head out to enjoy live performances, educational booths and interactive learning activities. Kids of all ages can visit each booth to experience fun quizzes, hands-on activities, quilting demonstrations, games, video presentations and much more across the grounds in the Family Living and Youth Tents, that are a hub of activity during the three-day event. More entertainment can be found in the Equine Arena.
• Have a garden or looking to learn more about starting one? Sample a variety of educational exhibits from University of Wisconsin-Extension that include getting your drinking water tested, visiting with UW-Extension Master gardeners, learning about Wisconsin’s fresh market vegetable growers, and scheduling “appointments” with an entire clinic of “doctors” ready to diagnose and suggest treatments for everything from ailing plants to what type of soil you have on your property in the Progress Pavilion.
• Want some more ag-related fun after Farm Technology Days ends for the evening? Check out “Dairymen: the Moo-sical” will be performed nightly August 10 through August 14. This full-length musical comedy will be held nightly at 7:30 PM at the @1800 Theater in the Sentry Insurance complex.

Farm Tech Days is being hosted by Blue Top Farms and Feltz Family Farms as co-host farms. Blue Top Farms and Feltz Family Farms are located east of I-39, south of Highway HH. Additional land, being used for field demonstrations, is being made possible through neighboring growers; Myron Soik and Sons, Inc. and Greg Kizewski and Sons, Inc.
