To the Editor-

I have known Jim Grubba for over 30 years. I first met him when he was a young sheriff’s deputy and I was in high school. He worked with my father; a retired captain with the sheriff’s department.

Throughout the years he and his family have been valued friends of our family. Over those many years, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Jim quite well. I can tell you that he deeply cares about the sheriff’s department and all of the officers and staff that work there. He has a great love of Portage County that can only come from being a lifelong member of the community.

We’ve traveled many miles together and we’ve had many conversations on a variety of topics.  I’ve learned that he has great analytical and problem solving skills. But what most impresses me are his people skills. Jim listens, He’s responsive and easy talk to. All of these are important skills necessary to be effective Sheriff and to work with city and county government.

I am certain that Jim Grubba will be an excellent sheriff for the citizens of Portage County. I am asking you to join me in supporting Grubba for Sheriff of Portage County on August 12th. But don’t just take my word for it. I invite you to compare the resumes of the four gentlemen running for sheriff. When you’re done, I think you too will conclude that Jim Grubba is the clear choice.
