A 38 year-old Stevens Point man this week has been sentenced to five years in prison following his 10th OWI offense.

Michael Vollrath was arrested in late February after a Portage Co. Sheriff’s Deputy noticed him and one other man pushing a car out of a ditch following a car accident. Vollrath’s companion initially told law enforcement it was him, not Vollrath, who had been driving before admitting the truth.

Vollrath’s blood alcohol content was 0.27 percent, more than 3 times the legal limit for drivers.

Judge Thomas Eagon also ruled Vollrath pay more than $3,200 in fines and not drink alcohol for 10 years.
