Letter: Mayor Thanks CN for Contribution
To the Editor:
I wanted to take a moment and thank CN for their contribution to our street tree initiative through their conservation grant program. Last month the City of Stevens Point received $25,000 from CN for continued tree investment and planting in the City, and specifically, for Eastpark Commerce Center.
CN quietly has been a spectacular corporate citizen here in the City demonstrated in many ways: from changes in coupling and acceleration to better address noise for our subdivisions, working with us on planning for the grade separation at Country Club Drive, giving to the United Way, planning for freight service in Eastpark Commerce Center, emergency coordination and support, and most recently this wonderful grant. CN was also remarkably responsive in changes to protocol in and around the Junction City area after concerns were brought to their attention. Trains can be difficult to deal with here or in any community; but CN tries their best to work with us and deserves thanks for the clear efforts and support that they have provided us most recently.
CN needs to be applauded for the economic vitality they help create for this entire region day in and day out; and we know we would not be the community we are today without the railroad and CN. Thank you so much from a grateful community.
Andrew J. Halverson, Mayor
