Sentry Insurance is has begun reconstruction of its downtown parking lot on Strongs Avenue.
The project includes repaving and increasing green space between the lot and the sidewalk. The construction is expected to end before winter.
The project was approved by the City Plan Commission in May. According to city documents, the company plans to expand the perimeter landscaping to the required five feet, which would bring the existing parking lot up to code. Prior to construction, a portion of the south side of the parking lot abutted the sidewalk.
Sentry plans to expand the number of employees at the downtown location, adding 15 staff associates to the building.
