NEW: Police Have Two in Custody for Questioning in Morning Robberies

The Stevens Point Police Department on Monday have confirmed two robberies at local gas stations.
Officers first responded to a call of a robbery at 8:31 AM at the Southside BP- 3209 Church Street Stevens Point. According to a news release, the incident was very similar to a robbery reported on July 21st at the same location.
An employee at the store reported a single white male entered the store and demanded cash from the register. The male was described as approximately 6ft tall with short blonde hair, wearing a gray colored hooded sweatshirt. The man had his hand inside his sweatshirt pocket implying a threat and then left the store southbound on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
While officers were on the scene and searching the area of Church Street, a second report of robbery came in at 8:49 AM from the Westside Mobil gas station located at 232 West Clark Street. This employee reported a similar incident and the same suspect description.
A witnesses from the second robbery reported a suspect vehicle description. This vehicle was located at approximately 9:01 AM in the 3200 block of Michigan Ave and a high risk stop was conducted.
Two adults men inside the vehicle were taken into custody for questioning. Investigation is ongoing. Evidence is being collected and processed at this time.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with this investigation and high risk arrests.
