Letter: Plover is ‘Community Strong’ for Support of PD
To the Editor-
The Plover Police Department would like to extend a gracious thank you to those within the community who have stood by, waited and supported us and the officer involved in this latest officer involved shooting incident. The Village of Plover always has been and will continue to be a safe community, but it is not immune to the dangers that exist in larger cities. It’s nice to see that Plover hasn’t given up its fight and support for community togetherness through the years.
The officer involved shooting brought a social media explosion of inaccurate information, but many more residents were sending their prayers and thoughts for those involved rather than spreading rumors. Not every person’s contact with law enforcement is always positive whether that is due to the nature of what they are doing or their personal feeling towards police officers. I assure you we don’t make decisions with the intent to slight or upset people. We make them for the benefit of the community as a whole, which doesn’t always please everyone. Our department cares about the community and what happens in it from a personal and policing aspect. When news of the shooting incident reached the ears of officers, several who had already worked a 12 hour shift that day put their uniforms back on, reached down deep and came back into work. Other officers left their families, and chose to forgo their vacations so they could come into work. The reason why? It’s because something happened in our community, and our community needed us.
From the Plover Police Department to those within our community, we thank you for your trust, support and patience.
