Become part of Stevens Point’s history by helping build the future of the city
For the City-Times
The City of Stevens Point’s Community Development Department is embarking on updating the city’s comprehensive plan- which hasn’t been updated since 2006.
The comprehensive plan provides an assessment of existing conditions and future needs within the community. A ten to twenty year vision is created based upon anticipated change and growth that will affect the community’s health, safety, and welfare. This vision is applied to several individual components where goals and objectives are developed to be used as a policy guide for future actions.
The first presentation regarding the update will occur on August 13, 2014 at 6 PM in the Portage County Annex building, 1462 Strongs Ave. All residents, business owners and organizations within the City of Stevens Point- as well as surrounding municipalities and towns- are invited and encouraged to attend.
The presentation will include the following:
- Comprehensive Plan Update Project Introduction
- Comprehensive Plan Education and History
- Project Process and Timeline
- Public Participation Opportunities
- Next Steps
