Layout FlagWayne J. Crueger “W.J” age 77, of Stevens Point passed away Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Wayne suffered a motor cycle accident in Stevens Point on Thursday, August 7th.

Wayne was born February 17, 1937 in Wausau, the son of Wilbur and Flora (Costa) Crueger. He moved with his family to Stevens Point in 1943 and graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School. He entered the United States Navy on April 5, 1955 in Great Lakes, IL. He served in the Western Pacific, Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and California. Wayne was honorably discharged on March 11, 1959. He returned to Stevens Point and for a short time, moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allen Bradley and American Motors before returning to Stevens Point. He married Jeanie Mae “Minnie” VanWormer on April 23, 1960. The couple raised five children, and later divorced. He began his career at the railroad in 1961 with the Soo Line. He retired as a conductor with Canadian Pacific Railway in 1995. Wayne enjoyed walleye fishing at his fishing shack at the South WI River Yacht Club, building squirrel houses for family and friends, and was an avid Brewer and Packers fan. His true love was his family, and his being able to spend time with them.

He is survived by his children: Renee (Steve) Smith, Lori Fahrner, Michelle (Jack) Szymkowiak, David (Suzanne) Crueger, Dean (Amy) Crueger. 9 grandchildren: David, Stephanie, Jimmy, Ashley, Justin, Joshua, Jessie, Jenna, and Conner. 3 great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jordan, and Adryanna. Two sisters: Delores Kolinski and Dawn Zamzow.

His girls “cats” : Miss Beasley, Miss Finnigan, and Jeanie Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife Jeanie Mae in 1989. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
