LeRoy A. Miller, 73
LeRoy A. Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, age 73, of Plover passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI.
LeRoy was born November 16, 1940, in Butternut, WI, the son of Frank and Florence (Stangl) Miller. He moved with his family to Stevens Point in 1949 and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1958. He was a long- time baseball player in the area, starting out with the Stevens Point Little League when the first teams were organized in 1952, and later playing for Moore Barn. He served his country as a Medic in the United States Air Force from 1958-1962. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the area and began his career at the Soo Line Railroad/CP Rail, retiring there as an engineer in 2000. He married Delores Turzinski on February 8, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point. LeRoy enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage, shooting pool, and having spirited conversations with friends and family. He was also an avid Brewers, Cubs, Packers, and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Plover; their three children, Kerri Lee Miller of Sun Prairie, WI, Kelli Miller of Stevens Point, and Kurt (Trina Laube) Miller of Stevens Point; and one granddaughter, Taya Miller. He is further survived by one sister, Mary Ann Jensen of Crystal Lake, IL, and three brothers Franklin (Lois) Miller and Wayne (Renetta) Miller, both of Stevens Point, and Jerald Miller of Park Falls, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lyla Drews and Patricia Wisniewski; three brothers, Arthur, Donald, and Robert; and three nephews.
Funeral services for LeRoy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday August 26, 2014, at the Shuda-Plover Family Funeral Home. Deacon Vern Linzmeier will officiate. Full military honors will follow the service. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10 a.m. to the time of services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
