Layout FlagClarence Weisbrod of Stevens Point went to eternal life during the night on August 28, 2014. He had become very weak in recent months, but spent his last evening enjoying a family dinner overlooking his beloved Lake Helen, the site of a lifetime of family memories.

Clarence was born on March 3, 1924 to Joseph and Rose (Suplicki) Weisbrod, the youngest of 9 children. He grew up on a farm in Jordan and began his education in a one room school there. He began attending the St. Stanislaus parish school when he was ten and has been a faithful member of St. Stan’s parish for the eighty years since.

Clarence graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1942 and served in the US Army Air Corps from 1943-46. He was first employed as an air craft mechanic for the Wisconsin Air National Guard, where he became friends with Paul Poberezny. He was an active supporter of EAA and attended Airventure in Oshkosh.

Clarence married his high school sweetheart, Ramona Rozek, on June 7, 1947. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage, raising 5 children who have added 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren to their lives.

Clarence worked for the Stevens Point Post Office from 1955 until his retirement in 1980, serving as both a city and rural carrier. He had a great love of the outdoors that he shared with his family, especially during week-ends at Lake Helen in Rosholt.

Fondly known to friends and family as “Clancy”, he gathered a lifetime of acquaintances that became valued friends, including Army buddies, fellow members of the American Legion and Elks, bowlers, co-workers, and neighbors. He became an avid golfer nicknamed “The Hawk” and belonged to several area leagues as well as visiting many courses over the years. He enjoyed his final round at the Stevens Point Country Club in July.

Clarence and Ramona traveled extensively in retirement, enjoying bus trips throughout the United States. He was a fan of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, attending and watching games with enthusiasm. He enjoyed tending to his yard, a nod to his roots on the farm.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Ramona and their five children: Nancy (Brian) Wilhelm of Neenah, Joseph (MaryAnn) Weisbrod of Rosholt, Barbara (Russ) Golla of Plover, John (Kathy) Weisbrod of Stevens Point, and Dori (Mike Meverden) Weisbrod of Spring Grove, Illinois. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Lindsey (Jeremy) Leick, Erin Wilhelm, Eric (Tonya) Weisbrod, Tracy (Patrick) Weishan, Kara (Tyler) Shogren, Megan Golla, Lauren Golla, Logan Golla, Anna Weisbrod and Jacob Weisbrod, and five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Hannah, Emily, Jacob, and Alexander, who was born on Clarence’s 90th birthday.

Services will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on Saturday, August 30, with visitation at 12:30 p.m. and Mass of Resurrection at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Tom Lindner will preside. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery and a dinner will be served.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Clarence’s name will be established at a later date.

The family would like to give special thanks to Heartland Hospice, the staff and residents at Oakridge, and Dr. Andrew Braun, all of whom helped Clarence live life to the fullest until his very last day.

“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
