Stevens Point police on Friday say they arrested one woman after a high-speed chase through the north end of the city.
The chase along Division Street came to an end when the woman crashed her SUV into a metal guard rail near the gas pump a BP gas station.
According to a press release from the Sgt. Tony Babl, police had been looking for the woman to verify her well-being. The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was located shortly after 1 PM near the I-39 exit to Division Street.
The woman then led police on a brief high-speed chase from the exit, and southbound along Division until the driver crashed into a protective guard just next to a gas pump. Police say the women claimed she was carrying a gun but was soon taken into custody. No serious damage to the gas station or injuries were reported.
Along with SPPD, the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, Stevens Point Fire Department and Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
