Layout FlagRaymond Sanchez Sr, age 91, of Bancroft, died September 5, 2014 at St. Michaels Hospital, Stevens Point.

Raymond was born June 23, 1923 to the late Timoteo & Josefa (Tobias) Sanchez in Cuero, TX. He grew up there and attended the local schools until he started working various jobs. At age 17 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was honorably discharged in 1941. Raymond also serviced in the National Guard from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1952.

He married Lillian Lopez September 30, 1944 in Dewitt County, Texas at the Courthouse. They later settled in WI in the early 70s. Lillian preceded him in death in 1992 from health issues.

Raymond began working at Sentry Insurance in 1972 and retired in 1990.

Raymond was an ideal family man. He started with very little and built a life for his family. He would do anything for them. People seemed to be a little intimidated by Raymond by their first encounter with him based on his appearance and gruff voice. But once you got to know him, he was a very kind, sweet, gentle and loving man who would help anyone if he was able to. In his free time, he enjoyed sitting on his back porch watching the birds, spending time with family, watching Westerns, listening to music, and singing.

Survivors include his 3 daughters, Sylvia Lubeck of Bancroft, Linda (Mark) Cisewski of Stevens Point, & Diane Sanchez of Bancroft; grandchildren, Edmund “Neito”, Kristie, Stephanie, Derek, Jeremy, Angel, Jetta, Justine, & Mandy; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Kristin, Damion, Erika, Brady, Ryan, Avery, Riya, Michael Jr., Antonio, & Mateo. He is further survived by 2 great-great-grandchildren, Conner and Addisyn; 1 great-great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; daughter, Josephine; son, Raymond Sanchez Jr; grandson, Eric; and granddaughter, Esther.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am, Thursday September 11, 2014 at Boston Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Silha. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 11, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Boston Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
