Letter: A Civics Lesson
To the Editor-
My high school Civics class taught me that the representatives of the people enact laws, the sheriffs and police enforce them, the courts interpret them and the district attorneys prosecute offenders. It did, and still does, make sense to me.
Brad Schimel, Waukesha County District Attorney, has served as a prosecutor for 23 years-personally conducting over 150 jury trials putting murderers, drug dealers and sex offenders behind bars. He is running for Wisconsin Attorney General.
Brad is committed to public safety, victim’s rights and the rule of law as it was written and enacted. He will continue to fight the use of our legal system for partisan, political purposes.
His less experienced opponent, an activist DA in an equally liberal locale, has instead pledged to her supporters that she will prosecute only those laws of her liking-effectively acting as legislator, judge and jury.
Maybe that’s why 89 law enforcement officials, including police chiefs, sheriffs and district attorneys, from across Wisconsin have enthusiastically endorsed Brad Schimel for Wisconsin Attorney General.
That’s why I’m voting for Schimel as Wisconsin’s “Top Cop”. Consider the contrast and you will, too.
