By Patrick Lynn
The Police & Fire Commission on Wednesday unanimously chosen Interim Fire Chief Bob Finn as the new fire chief in Stevens Point.
Finn has been acting chief since Tracey Kujawa left the spot for a job in Wausau in May. Finn has been with the department since October 2007. Prior to that he was with the Westchester, Illinois Fire Department for 27 years.
The Commission spent several hours in closed session Wednesday night conducting final interviews of the two remaining candidates, including Finn and Kraig Beifeld from Watertown. A third candidate, Randy Banker of Batavia, Illinois, had withdrawn his application due to a family emergency.
According to a statement from the Police & Fire Commission Wednesday night, Finn is expected to be sworn in soon but no date has been set.
