Ellis Stone Construction Company receives an Associated General Contractors (AGC) 2014 BUILD Wisconsin Award in the Design-Build Renovation category for the Greenheck Health & Wellness Center of Schofield, Wisconsin. This adaptive re-use of an existing structure along with upgraded thermal insulation and other eco-friendly options made this a very “green” project.

The facility is a single source location for Greenheck employees and their families to receive clinical care and access to a fitness facility. The new clinic is a visible and public example of the Greenheck commitment to its employees, so finding the right location was important. An existing industrial building on a major street within the Greenheck campus was selected. Ellis’ design team, led by architect Steve Chizzo, developed the plans to show how the functional programs for the clinic and fitness gym would adequately fit, and also showed how the building could be expanded in the future if needed.

The 6,100 square-foot building incorporates the clinic and fitness gymnasium in a contemporary atmosphere, with a vestibule to allow after-hours access to the gym.

Architectural louvers, manufactured by Greenheck, are highlighted on the exterior of the building to emphasize some of the products manufactured on campus. Architectural metal panels, new canopies, and the large louvers create a modern make-over for the facility and distinguish it from the neighboring industrial buildings.

The BUILD Wisconsin Awards are a recognition of the skill, integrity, hard work, ingenuity, and commitment that goes into construction projects. A panel of construction industry professionals including an architect, engineer, facility owner/manager, city building official and university professor select the top outstanding construction projects.

This is the 12th year of the BUILD Wisconsin Awards and the eighth time Ellis has been honored with this distinguished award.
