Sheriff’s Office to Hold Mock Crash

On October 3rd Portage County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a “mock crash” for training and educational purposes at the Amherst Fairgrounds, 4504 Fairgrounds Rd.
The event starts at 9:30 AM and is a community event mainly, targeting high school students. It will demonstrate the catastrophic consequences of drinking and driving.
The mock crash will tell the story of four students involved in a crash after they chose to drink and drive.
The agencies assisting in the educational event are Amherst Fire Department, Amherst EMS, Stevens Point EMS, Johnson’s Towing of Amherst, Amherst High School, Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit of Marshfield, and the Portage County Coroner’s Office.
The Amherst High School media class will be filming the event to create a Public Service Announcement.
