Staff at P.J. Jacobs Junior High along with local police today say they’re investigating a handwritten note warning of a bomb threat found inside one of the boys’ bathrooms at the school.
Police Chief Kevin Ruder said the note claims a bomb would be brought to the school on Friday, and his department would increase its presence on the school grounds that day.
“We’re erring on the side of caution,” Ruder said Thursday afternoon. “Plus it’s a little extra presence from us, because we want people to feel safe.”
Ruder also said his department does not believe anyone is in danger, but noted they are treating the threat as a valid one. He said the Stevens Point Police SWAT would perform a complete search of the building Thursday night.
Some Thursday evening activities at the school have been cancelled. School principal Jon Vollendorf was not immediately available for comment.
