Dorothy M. Suskey
Dorothy M. Suskey, age 85, passed away Friday morning October 3, 2014 at home, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.
Committal services with the American Legion Auxiliary Post #543 will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 8. 2014 at the Plover Village Cemetery.
Dorothy was born July 13, 1929 in Minersville, PA, the daughter of Oliver and Adeline (Jefferson) Whiteman. She married Wayne J. Suskey on November 15, 1947.
Dorothy lived a very fulfilled life with many trips to visit relatives in PA, NY, FL, IL, AZ. She was to Hawaii twice, Alaska, Florida, and winter stays in Arizona, she was a 12 time snow bird. Dorothy volunteered for years at the food pantry and bloodmobile. She was part of the charter group of the Plover American Legion Auxillary and a member for 63 years; assisting at Freedom Days Celebration in Plover for 16 years. Dorothy enjoyed special Bingo trips with friends Connie, & Duane Jacob and Delores Mansavage. She enjoyed neighbors Phil & Eldean Kalata who built their Kellner home the same year as Wayne and Dorothy.
Dorothy was especially proud of family members that have served in the military including: her father Oliver, brothers: Ron and Oliver, husband Jack, father-in-law Peter, son Ted, son-in-law Dean, grandchildren: James and his wife Nicki, David, Jeremy, and herself who was proud to serve in Auxiliary of C.A.P. in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
She is survived by her children: Wes (Lynda) Suskey, La Crosse; Ted (Judi) Suskey, Kellner; Jackleen (Dean) Johnson, Bullhead City, AZ. 11 grandchildren: William (Pam); Breanna (Tyler); Jacob; James (Nicole); John; Alicia; David: Jeremy (Amy); Chad; Mary; Kim; Heidi (Don); Lori; Traci; Mandi; Brian. 15 great grandchildren: Nathan, Brianna, Destiny, Kayla, Ainsley, Aziah, Taylor, Madelyn, Charlotte, Kirrah, Kyle, Andrew, Emily, Vera, and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayne in 2009, and their son Peter.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Ronald McDonald House, Marshfield, Wisconsin.
