Carla J. Johnson, 97
Carla J. Johnson, age 97, of Stevens Point, died October 20, 2014 at North Crest Assisted Living Center.
Carla was born October 11, 1917 to the late Nels and Emma (Kankrud) Abrahamson in the Town of New Hope, WI. She grew up on the family farm and attended the local school.
At an early age, Carla worked hard and contributed to farm life until moving to Chicago, IL. She found work at the Delphi Theater as a clerk. While working in Chicago, she met her future husband, Harold Johnson. They were married on Nov. 29, 1941 in Waukegan, IL. After marriage, Carla devoted her life to raising a family. Once her children had grown, Carla and Harold started Carla’s Dry-cleaning. They later sold the business and Carla found work with the Brandon Company assembling golf putting cups. She worked there until retiring.
Carla will be remembered for her outgoing and fun-loving nature. Family was near and dear to her, and she relished spending time with her grandsons. Carla loved to travel and spend winters in Arizona. In her earlier years, she was a fearless avid skier. In her spare time she enjoyed long walks, gardening, crafts, crocheting, and being active within her church community.
Survivors include her son, Ronald (Linda) Johnson; daughter, Emma Stetson; grandchildren, Ronald Jr. (Stacy) Johnson and Jason (Jacqleen) Stetson; great-grandchildren, Austin, Logan, Tatum, and Emma Lee; numerous nieces and nephews; and cousins.
