City to Hold Third in Comprehensive Plan Series
By Brandi Makuski
City leaders on Thursday will hold the third of 11 meetings to hear public suggestion for updates to the Stevens Point comprehensive plan.
Meetings are being held in each of the city’s 11 districts to ensure neighborhood-specific concerns and suggestions are heard, though city residents from any district can attend and be part of the informal discussions.
Thursday’s meeting will be held at the UWSP College of Natural Resources Building in room 122 from 6:30- 8 PM. Meetings for the first two districts were previously held at the County Annex Building and the city’s parks & rec building earlier this month.
Community Development Director Michael Ostrowski, along with Kyle Kearns, the city’s economic development specialist, will take notes of residents’ ideas for possible incorporation into future plans for the city. Comments on the city’s current assets and weaknesses will also be taken.
The comprehensive plan is a broad overview of the city’s future land use and model for growth in economic terms, sustainability, parking/roadway improvement and other areas.
