Blanche M. Burdick, 93
Blanche M. Burdick, age 93, of Stevens Point, died October 18, 2014 at the House of Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield.
Blanche was born to the late Emil & Dorothy (Swope) Kempf in Wausau, WI. She attended various schools and graduated from Tomahawk High School. She continued on to Dodge County Normal school earning her teaching certificate.
Following school, Blanche taught at various country schools for many years. She went on to become the girl’s dean and later the registrar at Hylandale Academy. Following, she moved to Stevens Point in 1986. Faith was an important part of Blanches’ life. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she became very active and enjoyed volunteering & managing the Nature’s Pantry and taking on bible study groups.
Blanche truly adored the time she spent with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, cross stitching, knitting, and crocheting. She had a very unique relationship with animals. They had a special sense that she cared for them which made them gravitate towards her. She especially loved dogs, cats, & horses.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Christine Burdick of Menomonee Falls; brother, John (Germaine) Kempf of Leesburg, FL; honored family, Marilyn (Darrell) Brown of Bancroft; honored grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Brown, Kristina (Geany) Silva, Russell (Jen) Brown, Cayanna (Mario) Herrera; honored great-grandchildren, Megan, Rose, Morgan, Andrew, Liam, Christian, Gregg, Giovanny, Eolani, & Justin. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, & many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Dorothy & Helen, and her brother Lawrence.
Private family services are being held. Memorials may be made to the House of Dove Hospice Home, 1000 W 11th Street, Marshfield, WI 54449.
