For the City-Times

Multi-Media Channels is pleased to announce the acquisition of Stevens Point City-Times, a local social media and online and printed news publication serving in Stevens Point and the surrounding area.

“Stevens Point City-Times has been a valued online, and more recently, print news sources for the Stevens Point community since it was founded in 2010,” said Patrick Wood, CEO of Multi-Media Channels. “This acquisition represents our long term commitment to Wisconsin-based publications and digital assets, and we want to continue to build the local brand and our presence in the community. We look forward to the Stevens Point City-Times continued success.”

“As a family owned and operated business, it was essential for us to find a buyer with values similar to our own who also valued with the Stevens Point City-Times means to our community. We firmly believe MMC is a good steward for our hyper-local publication, and that they will continue its proud tradition of shedding light on our community’s most serious issues,” said Brandi Makuski, former owner and Editor-in-Chief of the Stevens Point City-Times.

Multi-Media Channels’ purchase of the Stevens Point City-Times represents the company’s third acquisition in the past several months. In July 2014, MMC  acquired the assets of the Merrill Couriers- a newspaper and media outlet serving the City of Merrill, WI, and surrounding areas. MMC also acquired The Antigo Area Shopper, a weekly advertising publication in the City of Antigo, in September 2014.

MMC is a subsidiary of Brown County Publishing, a family owned and operated media corporation that traces its publishing roots back three generations. Based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the company publishes numerous weekly shoppers, weekly newspapers and speciality publications in and around Northeast and Northcentral Wisconsin, along with associated websites and digital assets. The weekly shoppers include the Waupaca Buyer’s Guide, Wausau Buyer’s Guide, Stevens Point Buyer’s Guide, Wisconsin Rapids Buyer’s Guide, Marshfield Buyer’s Guide, Rhinelander Hodag Buyer’s Guide, New London Buyer’s Guide, Clintonville Shoppers’ Guide; the weekly newspapers include the Merrill Foto News, Rhinelander Star Journal, Waupaca County Post, New London Press Star, Clintonville Tribune Gazette; and the specialty magazines include Silent Sports, Full Throttle, Packerland Pride, Auto Plus, Auto Gazette and Hoopla. Bullseye Distribution is the company’s delivery division.

Eisen Fox & Company advised Multi-Media Channels on the acquisition. “Multi-Media Channels has built a strong media platform in Wisconsin and continues to look for opportunities to expand and strengthen its digital and print presence,” said Vicki Fox, Managing Director at Eisen Fox.
