Arthur R. Ceplina age 72, of Plover passed away Friday November 7, 2014 at St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Arthur will be held at 10:30 AM on on Tuesday November 11, 2014 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Rev. Clayton Elmhurst will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9:30 – 10:15 AM on Tuesday at the church. Shuda – Plover funeral home is assisting the family.
Arthur was born March 20, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Frank and Alvina (Fox) Ceplina. As a child the family moved to the town of Sharon where they ran the family farm.
Arthur graduated from Pacelli High School in 1959. He served his country for two years in the National Guard, before his marriage to Barbara Pittsley on June 27, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The couple settled in Stevens Point before moving to a house built by Arthur in the Town of Dewey. Arthur built another home in Plover 7 years later and the family moved there in 1977, and have resided there since. Arthur worked as firefighter with the Stevens Point Fire Department for 27 years, retiring in 1994. He also operated a property development business before and after his retirement. Arthur loved hunting, especially deer hunting, and golfing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and Moose Club of Stevens Point.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Barbara, and their three children: Bonnie Ceplina, Plover; Holly Schmidt, Stevens Point; John (Cindy) Ceplina, Menomonee Falls. 5 grandchildren: Alyxandra, Eden, Emily, Rylie, and Jack. 2 brothers: Jerry (Diane) Ceplina, Merrill and Dennis (Chris) Ceplina, Dewey. He was preceded in death by his parents, their daughter Peggy, and his sister Audrey Peters.
