Lassa Re-elected as Caucus Chair

State Senator Julie Lassa (Stevens Point) has been unanimously re-elected as Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus during the first meeting of the caucus following the November 4 elections.
Lassa’s re-election came on the same day that Senate Democrats elected Sen. Jennifer Shilling (La Crosse) as Minority Leader, Sen. Dave Hansen (Green Bay) as Assistant Minority Leader and Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (Alma) as Assistant Caucus Chair.
According to Lassa, the new leadership ensures that Central Wisconsin’s voice will be heard in the state legislature.
“From La Crosse in the west to Green Bay in the east, our new leadership team is well-acquainted with the communities and people of the central part of our state,” Lassa said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on common sense solutions that will move Wisconsin’s economy forward and give all workers and their families an opportunity to succeed.”
Lassa has held the position since first being elected Senate Democratic Caucus Chair in 2010. The chair is responsible for convening and presiding over meetings of the caucus and promoting cohesion among caucus members.
Lassa represents the 24th State Senate District, which includes parts of six counties in central and western Wisconsin. The next session of the State Legislature will convene in January, 2015.
