Rosemarie “Rose” Menzel, 87
Rosemarie “Rose” Menzel, age 87, of Stevens Point, was called to be with our Lord in Heaven on November 22, 2014, while under the care of her loving husband and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Rose was born May 13, 1927 to the late Frank and Teresa (Roecklein) Love in Marshfield, WI. She grew up in Stevens Point, attended St. Stephen Grade School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1945.
She worked for the Plover Whiting Paper Co. from 1947 to 1949 as a Secretary.
On July 9, 1949, Rose married Terry W. Menzel at St. Stephen Catholic Church.
They later moved to Mason City, IA, where Rose dedicated her life to beginning and raising a family. After her children were old enough to attend school, Rose became employed with Hogan-Bremer Funeral Home as a secretary for over 10 years. Rose and Terry relocated back to Stevens Point in 1979. She worked part-time for UWSP in the Student Foreign Exchange and Study Abroad program until retiring.
Rose loved golf, reading, traveling, and playing card games, especially Bridge and Poker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish.
Survivors include her husband, Terry; children, Barbara (Jon Van Wagenen) Menzel of Everett, WA, Sally (Paul) McCully of Kaneohe, HI, Nancy (Rodney) O’Keefe Sanderson of Winchester, OR, and Ted (Cindy) Menzel of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Tressa, Kate, Scott, Megan, Kelcy, Phillip, Taylor, Hannah, Aaron, and Rebekah; and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Catherine “Cassie” Mosey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Jack and Pat Love.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place in Forest Cemetery at a later date.
