Weather Whiplash: Nearly 6 Inches of Snow Followed Warm Front
By Sara Marls
According to the National Weather Service, the Stevens Point Area received 5.6 inches of snow on Monday.
Unseasonably cold weather last week took area residents by surprise before turning unseasonably warm over the weekend, followed by the winter storm seen locally. Initially the storm was expected to bring as much as 7 inches of snow.
“We’re ready for it,” said Scott Schatschneider, director of public works for the city. He added the city’s 14 plow trucks were out in full force working to clear streets, and would likely be at work most of the evening.
Schatschneider also asked drivers to use caution on the roads.
“Be aware of your surroundings, just look out for each other,” he said.
