Four Post Office Processing Centers to Close In 2015

The United States Postal Service has announced which processing centers it will close in 2015- including one in Wausau.
In total, 82 will be closed throughout the country, to include processing centers in Madison, La Crosse and Eau Claire. The Postal Service says it can’t keep losing money, after losing a record- setting $5 billion during 2013. The USPS is expected to release new postal standards on Jan. 5.
U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin said postal officials haven’t considered the effect of the closures, which she said could slow delivery.
“How this affects the time it will take for a letter to get from Point A to Point B — they didn’t (study) that in this case. And that’s not acceptable. And they need to apply standards evenly,” said Baldwin.
