Update: Recall Petition Signing Event Held

City Times Staff
A group called Save Our Schools will be at two locations Jan. 14 to collect signatures for the recall petition of two members of the Stevens Point School Board.
The group plans to collect more than 6,500 signatures to recall Kim Shirek and Lisa Totten, who the group say have been a poor representation of the district.
The recall alleges Shirek and Totten has shown an inability to cooperatively work with administration, staff and other board members to move the district forward; are disrespectful and rude in public televised meetings; and poorly represent the district by unprofessional demeanor.
Petitions will be available to residents of the district at the main branch of the Portage Co. Library, 1001 Main St., from 4-8 PM and the Plover branch of the library, 2151 Roosevelt Dr., from 4-7 PM on Jan. 14.
Additional dates and locations will be announced at a later date.
