James Eugene Peters, 72

Peters, 72, was born at St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point. He was the oldest son of the late Cyril and Ione Peters, also of Stevens Point.
Peters is survived by his devoted wife, Lesley, of 49 years. He was the father of three children: Jeannie Sirek (Brian), Cynthia and Vincent. He also leaves three grandchildren: Jennifer Dalsbo (Josh), Josh Sirek and Allison Enriquez. Four great-grandchildren will also miss their “Gpa”
James’ surviving siblings include brothers Ronald (Sherry) of Mosinee, Thomas (Janice) of Colorado and Robert (Maria) of Florida.

A 1960 graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School, Peters served five years in the Army National Guard.
James rarely took a vacation and his pleasure was his family and his business, Peters Heavy Construction, which he started in 1963 and which continues to operate for more than 50 years. Peters was a member of Operating Engineers 139 for 40 years.
For relaxation, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing but mostly his life centered around family. Taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren shopping was a highlight for him.
The family will be receiving visitors at Shuda Funeral Home in Plover on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am.
