Plover PD Warns of Phone Scam
City Times Staff
The Plover Police Department is warning of a phone scam.
According to the department, several local residents have been receiving a phone call from someone calling himself “Deputy Morrison”.
The caller then tells the person who answered the phone they will subject to arrest or other legal action unless they call “Mark Williams” from the Plover Police Dept. within two hours.
Residents are told to call 312-473-1257 to avoid arrest.
Police say residents’ caller ID could even read “Plover Police Department” or have the department’s phone number.
Police officials say nobody by that name works at the Plover Police Department, and the person calling may have a heavy accent.
Plover PD urges residents to not give this or any suspicious caller any of your personal information. If the phone call is suspicious, police say residents should hang up with them and call the department at (715) 345-5255.
