Moe: In-person absentee voting begins February 2
City Times Staff
City Clerk John Moe said residents who want to vote early for the Spring Primary can do so in person beginning Monday at his office through February 13, or they can receive an absentee ballot by mail.
Voters wishing for the latter option need to submit a written request for an absentee ballot through the mail no later than 5 PM on Feb. 13. Completed ballots, he said, must be postmarked no later than Election Day- Tuesday, February 17- in order for it to be counted.
Moe also said residents who have not already registered to vote or those who have either moved or changed their name will need to re-register before they will be allowed to vote.
Applications for absentee ballots and voter registration are available at Moe’s office, 1515 Strongs Ave., and on the city’s website at www.stevenspoint.com. For more information, call Moe’s office at (715) 346-1569.
The Spring Primary will trim down the pool of six mayoral candidates: Council Members Mike Wiza, Jerry Moore and Tony Patton, as well as Bob Larson, former School Board Member and current Board Member Alex Kochanowski. Local businesswoman Barb Jacob rounds out the list.
Aldermanic races in districts 5, 9 and 11 will also be narrowed by a primary.
