Plover Now Accepting Applications for 2015 MPVA Scholarship

On behalf of the Republic of Korea, the Village of Plover is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for a grandchild or great grandchild of a Korean War Veteran.
Applicants must be students who currently attend or will be attending an undergraduate or graduate university for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The Scholarship Program is part of Korea’s ongoing efforts to increase awareness of the Korean War and to promote appreciation of its pivotal role in setting the course for the shaping and development of modern Korea as we know it today. This particular scholarship is known as an “MPVA scholarship” (the scholarship was created by the Ministry of Patriots’ and Veterans’ Affairs to support the Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren of Korean War Veterans.
The Village of Plover will be accepting applications for the 2015 scholarship from now through February 11th, 2015. Applications can be downloaded via the Village of Plover website at www.ploverwi.gov and are also available at Stevens Point Area High School and Pacelli High School. The Village understands that this is a tight timeline, however, parameters for the scholarship, including timeline were established by the Republic of Korea.
The scholarship amount is $2,000, and is to be used to defray the cost of undergraduate or graduate university education. Plover area applicants are desired, but not required.
Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren of Korean War Veteran who are full-time high school, undergraduate or graduate university/college students with a standing GPA of 3.0 or higher, no criminal records, and are recommended by either the head of university, dean, professor, principal or pastoral, etc. are eligible.
