A Stevens Point man is being held on $2,500 cash bond after being arrested Thursday on charges of felony child abuse.
According to the criminal complaint, Harrison Hefland became violent after a 15 year-old boy hid his loaded firearm from him. The boy told police he found Hefland passed out next to the firearm when he returned home from school and became afraid.
When Hefland woke he began to beat the boy and threaten his life and the boy’s mother. The boy managed to escape to his room and call police.
Police say Hefland was combative and threatened the officers but did calm down after police drew a taser.
As a condition of the bond, Helfand is to have no contact with the boy or his mother. He his scheduled to appear in court on February 16.
