Sheriff’s Office to Hold CCW Class in April

Class expected to fill quickly

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) class in April.
The class is taught by sheriff’s deputies who are certified Department of Justice Firearm Instructors, and is the actual Department of Justice course developed for CCW permit application.
This class will be held on Saturday April 25, 2015 from 8 AM to noon at the Portage County Annex, rooms 1 and 2. The cost of the class is $40 per student.
The sheriff’s office will also hold a Basic Handgun Course from 1 – 3:30 PM at the Portage County Law Enforcement Range. Topics for the class include shooting stance, grip, sight picture, loading, unloading, malfunctions and firing.
Students will need to bring a firearm and approximately 50 rounds of ammunition for their firearm. The cost for this course is $25.
Students taking both classes will be charged $50 per student.
