Letter: Moore Brings ‘More’ for Mayor
To the Editor-
Unable to vote in the mayoral elections, I nevertheless consider myself a “stakeholder” in the future success of Stevens Point. That is why I am writing this letter in support of Jerry Moore for Mayor.
More education, more experience describes Jerry Moore. A graduate of UWSP and Red Wing Technical College, he has served since 2000 as 11th District Alderman. He has served as Acting Mayor, City Council President and on ten committees, chairing two, for a total of over 50 committee/years of experience.
His aims are-
- Reduce city debt by making smarter financial decisions.
- Focus on city infrastructure with expediting the Hoover Avenue overpass as an immediate priority.
- Ensure all emergency services are adequately equipped to protect and serve the community.
- Rebuild relationships with surrounding communities, City Council and County government.
Having gone unnoticed is the fact that, of the 11 City Council positions, 7-8 could change because they are either contested or the incumbent has filed “non-candidacy” papers-including the 11th District seat Jerry is vacating for his mayoral run. Jerry has gone “all in”.
This job does not come with “training wheels”, instead requiring proven ability and experience. Moore has more of both. We need him more than ever.
Vote for Jerry Moore on Feb. 17th and April 7th.
