William “Bill” E. Sanks, 83 of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Wednesday November 5, 2014.

A funeral service was held November 10, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Bill was born February 6, 1931 in Stevens Point, the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Saunders) Sanks.  He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1949.  He was president of the “S” Club, lettered in football and baseball, and was class president.

Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in business administration and worked many years in sales.  He served 20 years combined active duty and active reserve duty in the United States Marine Corp, retiring with the rank of Major.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jeannette Sanks, 2 sons: Steven and Stuart, daughter Jennifer (Ron), grandchildren: Rebecca and Jacob, brother Joseph, sister Donna, and two special aunts: Dawn (Eckerson) Newby and June (Eckerson) Wrzinski.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Marguerite, his sister Virginia and brother Jack.

Bill was a devoted husband, brother, grandfather, and friend who gave freely of his time and talents to help others.  He was a loving, faithful and kind man whose generous heart touched many.  Bill will be missed – Semper Fi!
