Theresa Agnes Soik, 85
Theresa Agnes Soik, 85, formerly of 424 W. Harding Ave., Stevens Point, died Friday, February 27, 2015, at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital.
Theresa was born May 21, 1929, in Mill Creek, to the late Frank and Helen (Lesinski) Pliska. She attended local schools in Stevens Point; she also was a member of the St. Peter’s Rosary Society Rose #1.
Her marriage to Henry Soik took place on June 21, 1958, at St. Peter Catholic Church. After the marriage, the couple settled in West Allis before moving to Stevens Point.
Theresa was employed by St. Michael’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide before becoming a homemaker, taking care of her husband and five children.
Survivors include the love of her life, Henry Soik; and children, Martin Soik, his son, Josh Soik of Stevens Point; Tom Soik, Stevens Point; Barbara (David) Pozniak, Stevens Point; Ann (Jerry) Helminiak, Stevens Point, and their children, Diana and Andrew Helminiak; Mary (Thomas) Paviglianti of Florida, and Mary’s children, Jessica and Reachell; and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by one sister, Caroline Bungert of Sussex. Theresa was preceded in death by five brothers, Max, Edwin, Henry, Barney and Johnny; and one sister, Rose.
Theresa loved to be in her garden taking care of the raspberry bushes and other vegetables and selling them on the square. She loved playing bingo, going to garage sales and the casino. She also loved to listen to the Sunday Polka show. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Before her passing, Theresa was a resident at Crystal River Nursing Home and then resided at The Wellington Place of Whiting. The family would like to thank both of these homes plus St. Michael’s Hospital for all their care and love.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3rd from 9 a.m. until the time of services in the St. Faustina Room at the church. The St. Peter’s Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
