SPASH Wiffle Ball, Youth Baseball Clinic Events Announced
By Ken McKenzie
With news from spring training baseball camps now flowing from Arizona and Florida, baseball is on the minds of baseball purists and fans everywhere.
An upcoming wiffle ball tournament should help area youth bridge between indoor winter sports and outdoor sports of softball and baseball. The SPASH baseball coaching staff and 2015 squad will host an indoor tournament on April 4th at the SPASH Fieldhouse open to boys and girls in three divisions: 3rd/4th grades; 5th/6th grades and 7th/8th grades.
Guaranteed three games, teams are made up of 5-7 players within the respective age groups and a $20 fee per player will be required to participate. Trophies will be awarded to both first and second place teams in each age division.
Staff and squad will also host an instructional clinic on May 3 from 1-4 PM for boys ages 9-13.
The clinic will take place at the SPASH Fieldhouse, with the required $20 fee providing instruction in hitting, fielding, pitching and base-running. Each player will also be evaluated individually in the batting cage by a SPASH coach.
Registration slips for both events are available at all public schools or by contacting Kraig Terpstra, head baseball coach for SPASH, at [email protected].
